DIRECTOR/ PRODUCER/ WRITER I am the creator and executive producer of MTV’s hit series "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom". In addition to showrunning, I also make movies. I directed the feature film "Sorry,Thanks" (IFC/ Adrienne Shelly Directing Award) and the short documentary "Welcome, Strangers" (10 time winner of "Best Film" at various festivals), which follows asylum seekers in the moments after they are released from detention. I also have a new scripted project in the works and a TV series on PBS in pre-production.
I've produced a bunch of other people's films too (and I got nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for it in 2010 and won an Emmy in 2024): Andrew Bujalski's "Mutual Appreciation," "Beeswax," and most recently "There There," which stars Lili Taylor, Jason Schwartzman, Molly Gordon, Avi Nash and Lennie James. I also produced Greta Gerwig and Joe Swanberg's "Nights and Weekends," Alex Karpovsky's "Woodpecker," and the social justice documentaries "The Holly," "Finding Kendrick Johnson," and "Girl Talk". I started out my career working for acclaimed director Errol Morris on "The Fog of War" (2003 Academy Award winner), "Mr. Death" and his television series, "First Person" and was a producer on the original "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy."
